I am speechless!
It truly is a blessing to have such
a moving respose to my mother & my songs!
Thank You ALL from Our Hearts!
Vicki Lee has been singing professionally for almost a decade,
winning accolades and awards along the way. Lee is a commanding,
versatile vocalist who brings just the right tone to her eleven originals and an impressive cover of 'My Heart Will Go On'.
I was surprised that songwriter Vicki Lee and her collaborator and mother Laura Smith are from the state of Maine.
This CD has the heart and soul of Nashville, yet it cannot be pigeonholed into the country genre as Vicki blends the blues,
pop and rock into many of her songs. 'Crossing' On Over' is the up-tempo opener. Honky-tonk piano combined with some stellar slide keeps the song flowing along with the roar of a Harley. Vicki's vocals are sassy and harmonize well with Laura's parts. 'Don't Get Me Started' contrasts a perky tempo with Lee's feisty description of a bad day. 'Angels on Golden Wings' is slow and sweet. It is a moving tribute to those who died on 9/11. The slide guitar and piano convey the sorrow of losing a loved one as Vicki's vocals soar. Vicki Lee, Laura Smith and their band have crafted a first class CD!

No More Review - (quote) Well produced, laid-back blues, No More is a very professional sounding track.
With a vocal tone slightly reminiscent of Anastasia,
Vicki Lee gives a good performace over quite a typical accompaniment. Catchy and cool, Lee's track comes highly recommended.

Pure country is Vicki's forte and she hits the mark perfectly on this release. From the pure honky-tonk of the title track,
even including a reference to a Harley Davidson to the dancable Prowl Vicki shows her range and her powerful vocals as well as intelligent songwriting ability...

Pay attention as this angel, Vicki Lee, as she sings about a life most dream of at some time or another: “Crossin' On Over to the fast lane ... to jump on a Harley at three in the morning” … “Fuse is getting shorter ... can’t you hear me howl … getting ready to “Prowl” around for you!” The next tune is a little bit slower and a spectacular love story: “stole my heart completely and I could not live my heart without you. You are all I ever needed In Your Arms where I belong.” Vicki moves on to “No More” which begins with such exquisite piano introduction: “Heart is breaking … tired of wasting my time and tears ... thinking my life was over... you did me a favor...No More!” On to a cute little number that reminds me of the sixties. The phone rings in the background as Vicki begins: “Got up on the wrong side of the bed, mother-in-law pops in to sell me Mary Kay, Don’t get me started” Then, there’s the heartbreaking number from such a stunning voice as Vicki sings “…she was told her days were numbered and Dealt A Losin’ Hand... as she was holding on ... when the loved ones gathered around to say their last goodbyes she could not hide her tears....” Vicki does a marvelous job on the remake of “My Heart Will Go.” The special effects are unreal on “Damien,” which is a tune with a beat of the sixties: “deep blue eyes, heart gentle, and kind ...Damien is back in town ... no more Mister Nice Guy ... don’t get tangled up with him you will never be the same.” I, myself, usually find these guys! A faster ditty about life is next “... I need to slow down and mull things through ... or they will be hell to pay if I don’t Think Before I Act.” I always had to learn the hard way but I always get things gone. This tune contains such remarkable lyrics: “Mama … had six kids … we were poor … life was simpler back then … we had hardships, she raised us to be clean and decent. She didn’t spare the rod that was her way she showed us that she cared. We could pull no prank cause we knew that Mama Was Always There.” The last tune is “Angels on Golden Wings,” which covers questions of how and why: “How many people? How many times?...Why?...Did all those people suffer and little children die …You know God was there that day … He kept their fear at bay … Host, of angels on golden wings to carry them to eternity ... Americans died heroes … they will go down in history.” This is an excellent tribute to the 9/11 tragedies … very gloomy and touching; we all must go on … I was very impressed with this CD by Vicki Lee.

In this day and age of American Idol, it’s nice to see a vocalist that can really croon without all the effects in the studio pushing a feeble vocal into some massive arena shaker.

For being a mother of four. Vicki Lee somehow finds time to write music lyrics and lay down some hot country-pop tracks. Her mother Laura writes the music, and together
they have become award-winning song writers. Her latest release Crossin' On Over features Vicki's sassy vocals on clever and upbeat tunes.

Vicki Lee “Crossin’ On Over”.
Award winning Vicki hails from Maine where this album was recorded.
Unusual in that most of the songs were written by either Vicki, her mother Laura Smith, or both and what talented girls they are!
Vicki is a dynamic performer a fact she clearly displays with the two opening numbers, “Crossin’ On Over” and “Prowl” before slipping into a soulful duet with John Stuart with “In Your Arms”. The albums slips by quickly with a neat blend of heart ballads and rockers before ending with the beautiful award winning “Angels On Golden Wings”, dedicated to those who lost their lives on September 11

Vicki Lee - No More Review - Smoky ! -
Damn girl you can sing! When you sing this well you don't need alot of processing. Loved the Rhodes tone. Great understated guitar from a player who can sit back and pick his spots. Great guitar tone. Loved the song as well as the arrangement and production, but that voice, Oh yeah baby!

Vicki Lee “Crossin’ On Over” (Lydia Lee).
Vicki, from Maine, has been performing for around eight years. Her dynamism as a performer reminded me somewhat of an early Brenda Lee – she really is that electric! “Crossin’ On Over” and “Prowl”, the two opening tracks, will fill any dance floor and then “In Your Arms” a soulful duet with John Stuart. And so the album goes blending rockers with tasty heart ballads. Eleven of the twelve songs carry either Vicki’s or her mother’s, Laura Smith, or both on the writer’s credit. The only cover is a beautiful version of “My Heart Will Go” from the movie “Titanic”. Also included is the award-winning 9-11 tribute “Angels On Golden Wings”, penned by Vicki and Laura.

Vicki Lee Crossin' On Over - We don't normally think of Maine as being a country music stronghold, but this CD makes a viable statement to that effect.
The website also unfolds evidence that Vicki and her lyricist mother, Laura Smith, are interesting ladies with a team spirit worth paying attention to.
We won't get into the stories here, but the songs, except for James Horner and Will Jennings' wonderful "My Heart Will Go On,"
are Laura's lyrics with tune crafting by Vicki and various combinations of musicians/producers who happen to be named John Stuart, Roy Clark,
Harry King, and Jimmy Di Thomas. The range of sub-genres is wide, and the overall effect is that the Houndog Studio in Gorham, Maine,
is a good place to record country music.

.....but boy oh boy do I love Vicki Lee, a great gutsy singer. "Crossin' On Over" is the best I have heard for along time from a female artist, she has the voice,
that I know all our DJ's will play her all the time.

Crossin on over (the song) review -
This one grabbed me right off the bat. Its a relief to hear something like this. This Girl can SING!
The production is extremely clean and well mixed.
That has to be one of the sexiest voices I have ever heard in country music.
I have absolutely nothing to pick on or complain about.
Very nice use of breaks. This is awesome.

Vicki Lee
A Review by Shirley Sheppard for TIAC Radio
The Indie music structure is a miscellaneous collection in degrees of talent –
numerous mediocre, a few above average, and a small number who fit in the superior category.
Vicki Lee is undoubtedly one of those exceptional superior talents to emerge in the Indie country music arena.
It is a widely misconceived concept that all great country music singers hail from the South.
I have been guilty of this superficial notion myself, but Vicki Lee, a native New Englander, puts any such thoughts to rest;
she can deliver a country song to compete with the best. She has commanding voice control,
sings with strong emotion, has perfect pitch, and is one of the most versatile singers around who easily and equally adapts to ballad,
gospel, or upbeat tempo.
Vicki is also an extremely nice and modest girl, who gives the impression that she doesn't recognize just how good she really is; in fact,
she seems embarrassed at all the praise she receives – a refreshing characteristic considering the many egos abound in the music business.
Unlike many who have come and gone on the Indie scene, she has maintained a steady “staying power”
because of her unique talent. In short, Vicki Lee is “a singer’s singer” and we at TIAC predict that she will soar to great heights in her musical career.

Wherever and whenever Vicki Lee performs, this energetic,
charismatic, and beautiful lady delights the crowds with her wonderful songs and dynamic stage demeanor.
Having had the opportunity to personally meet Vicki Lee and to witness one of her many performances,
I can attest to her abilities and dedication as a singer and songwriter. Her most recent CD "Crossin' On Over"
is bringing a variety of responses, all of which continue to be positive. The contents of "Crossin On Over" are very good.
A bit different from the stock that Nashville will at times rubber stamp.
Vicki Lee's vocals continue to be a refreshing tap on the shoulder and this CD will be in every listener's music library.
Her Touch Of Life CD remains my all time favorite and will become yours once you have listened to each of the heartfelt songs.
(specifically "Let Me Not Weep")

Vicki Lee – “Crossin’ On Over”
Lee has a growling honky tonk voice also.
She can purr and belt it out with the best of them.
Think Linda Rondstat’s CD that covered lots of rocking covers like “Tumblin’ Dice” and “You’re No Good” and you get an idea of the sound and feel of “Crossin’ On Over”.
It’s an enjoyable fun ride ...

Folks, country music singer Vicki Lee truely is one of the kind. Country music mixed up with some blues, rhythm’n’blues, rock and gospel.
Vicki Lee’s voice can sound very different: you can find it very soft in songs like “Mama Was Always There”
On the other hand, her voice can be very strong and rocking like in “Damien”. We mostly love Vicki Lee singing gospels: “Prepare Your Soul” and “Thank You Sweet Jesus” might give you a good impresion of her personality she probably will spread at live events.

It’s a bit surprising not to see a cover of "Stand By Your Man" in Vicki Lee’s lineup, so similar does she seem to Tammy Wynette. Instead, Lee manages to channel her own trials and tribulations into soulful songs that could be best described as "country-gospel."
